This double CD documents the work of really distinctive guitarist Ken Aldcroft backed by fellow creative scene mainstays Evan Shaw (alto sax), versatile Wes Neal (bass), and Joe Sorbara (drums). There are 24 tracks which despite the experimental mandate, have a sense of organic unity in the artists' approach. There are versions of "Not Far From Home" by duo and trio and of "A Country Mile" by solo guitar and trio in what are unfailingly interesting sessions. Tracks to enjoy: "Things To Come", "Mars People" and "A Strained Hello". But what does one make of a jolly Latin piece, "Punto's Place"?
